The Beginnings of Cancun

Cancun is a young city that is located in the land of the Maya. Its tropical weather, pristine white beaches, turquoise blue waters with geographically enticing landscapes, which include fresh water sinkholes (called "cenotes"), jungle flora and brightly colored fauna, are all an excellent draw for tourists who look to stay in a city with an esthetically beautiful landscape.

Some ruins can be found in and about the city as well. This land of the Maya is filled with folklore and legend and even among modern buildings and constructions, there are still remnants of the essence of the people and the culture of old.
